Partner and Family Visas

Partner and Family Visas

Partner and family visas offer the opportunity to reside permanently in Australia for individuals who are partners, de facto partners, parents, or children of Australian citizens or eligible permanent residents. The subclasses vary for onshore and offshore applicants, and the following categories provide detailed information.

Partner Visas

These visas enable individuals to live permanently in Australia if they are married to an Australian citizen or permanent resident or in a de facto relationship with one. Onshore applicants need to apply for SC 820 and 801, while offshore applicants apply for SC 309 and 100 simultaneously.

Upon obtaining a temporary visa, valid throughout the waiting period, applicants await a decision on the permanent visa SC 801 or SC 100. The processing time for SC 820 and SC 801 is 6 to 34 months, and for SC 309 and 100 is 5 to 30 months. The application cost for both visas is AUD 8850, covering the permanent visa application as well. Sponsorship by the partner, meeting relationship requirements, and fulfilling health and character criteria are essential. If applying as a de facto partner, a minimum 12-month relationship is required.

Prospective Marriage Visa

Eligibility for the prospective marriage visa SC 300 is an option if marriage is imminent. It grants a stay of 9 to 15 months and requires sponsorship by the prospective partner. The visa application for SC 300 costs AUD 7850, and the processing time is between 8 to 33 months, accompanied by conditions 8502, 8515, 8519, and 8520.
